Jacob Fearnley76Game context
Jacob Fearnley enters the US Open qualifying first round as the clear favorite against Roberto Carballes Baena on outdoor hard courts, reflecting his higher ranking near No. 100, fourth-seed status in the draw, and stronger recent hard-court results including a Montreal main-draw win and Newport Challenger title. The British player holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge from their prior clay meeting and has shown better overall win rates this season. Carballes Baena, ranked near No. 180 and a clay-court specialist with limited hard-court success lately, faces an uphill matchup despite his experience reaching multiple Grand Slam main draws. Traders price the outcome around Fearnley’s form, surface suitability, and ranking differential, with limited recent head-to-head data on hard adding some uncertainty to the qualifier.
