US Open, Qualification ATP: Yunchaokete Bu vs Rio Noguchi

Game context
Yunchaokete Bu enters the US Open qualifying first round against Rio Noguchi as the higher-ranked player at No. 124 with a career-high of No. 64, holding a stronger overall hard-court record and greater recent exposure at ATP level. Bu posted solid grass results earlier in 2026 including challenger titles before transitioning to hard courts, where his depth and consistency have kept him competitive despite a mixed summer. Noguchi, ranked No. 218, has compiled a respectable 2026 hard-court ledger through challenger events but sits lower in the standings with fewer breakthrough results against top competition. The pair has no prior head-to-head history, so serve-return dynamics and second-serve hold percentages on outdoor hard will likely shape the outcome in this best-of-three match.
