Game context

Hyeon Chung enters this M25 Taipei 2 hard-court second-round match as the clear favorite, holding an ATP ranking near 572 with a career-high of No. 19 and strong hard-court history. The 30-year-old South Korean has compiled a 21-15 record in 2026, including recent wins over Jake Delaney and Kasidit Samrej on similar surfaces, though he fell to Masamichi Imamura in the prior Taipei event. Ethan Cook, a 23-year-old Australian ranked around 1300, brings a limited professional record (roughly 22-48 career) and mixed 2026 results mostly at lower ITF and challenger levels with few victories against comparable opposition. No prior head-to-head exists, but Chung’s experience edge, return effectiveness, and consistent hard-court form create a wide gap in implied probabilities, with only an unexpected upset or late injury altering the outcome.
