Monterrey Open: Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Clara Tauson

Game context
Ekaterina Alexandrova, the top seed and world No. 19, faces Clara Tauson in the round of 16 at the 2026 WTA Monterrey Open on outdoor hard courts after receiving a first-round bye. Alexandrova arrives with recent hard-court momentum from a strong Toronto run that included a win over Aryna Sabalenka before a Cincinnati loss, while maintaining a solid career record on the surface. Tauson, ranked No. 42, enters with fresh confidence after overcoming Renata Zarazúa in three sets highlighted by 11 aces, though her 2026 results remain mixed. Their head-to-head favors Tauson 2-0, but those matches occurred years earlier. The matchup pits Alexandrova’s experience and home-tournament pedigree against Tauson’s serving power and recovery time advantage, producing closely contested trader consensus around even-money odds.
