Game context
Cincinnati Reds starter Chase Burns enters with a 14-2 record and 2.51 ERA, having limited opponents effectively in recent outings, while Giants right-hander Whisenhunt carries a 7.03 ERA and has struggled with command. The Reds hold a superior 62-68 record compared to San Francisco’s 52-77 mark, though both clubs sit well out of playoff positioning in their respective divisions. Oracle Park’s spacious outfield and marine layer often suppress offense, favoring the visiting pitching staff. Cincinnati arrives after a series against Arizona where its bullpen surrendered 29 runs across four games, highlighting potential late-inning vulnerability despite the favorable starter matchup.
