Timofey Skatov3Game context
Grigor Dimitrov enters this US Open qualifying second-round match as the heavy favorite, leveraging his career-high ranking of No. 3, extensive hard-court experience, and a dominant 6-0, 6-3 opening-round victory over Lorenzo Giustino. The 35-year-old Bulgarian, seeking his 15th main-draw appearance at Flushing Meadows, has shown improved form after multiple injury setbacks, though consistency remains a factor at this stage of his career. Timofey Skatov, ranked No. 205 and coming off a straight-sets win over Gilles Arnaud Bailly, brings recent challenger-level momentum and a respectable 2026 record but faces a significant step up in class against a player with far greater Grand Slam pedigree and serve-return effectiveness on hard courts. The matchup highlights Dimitrov’s edge in experience and physical recovery versus Skatov’s underdog potential in a high-stakes qualifier.
